Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Punjab, has inaugurated the “Aghosh” program to Financial Support to Mothers, which is the first of its kind in Pakistan to provide cash assistance amounting to Rupees 23,000 to destitute women with children below the age of two and expectant mothers.
According to a statement by the Punjab government, in the first phase, during which mothers of newborns and pregnant women will be provided with financial assistance under the ‘Aghosh’ program in 13 districts, the program will initially run in Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, and Kot Addu.
The program will also be implemented in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Khushab, and Lodhran.
Under the program, pregnant women will be given a cash amount of Rupees 2,000 during their first enrollment in any health center or at any Maryam Health Clinic.
